Jacqueline Kennedy Oleg Cassini Workroom Ledger with

Important red ledger from the Oleg Cassini workroom kept by design coordinator Joseph Boccheir, 7.75 x 12.5, with approximately 17 pages devoted to model sessions for Jacqueline Kennedy's designs, circa 1960–1964. These pages, accomplished in pencil, pen, and red ink, describe the designs (e.g. "1 Wht silk gown trimmed in white satin plus stole" and "Mint green silk eve gown") and make note of when they were worn (e.g. "Life Cover," "Palm Beach Church Photo," and "New Years Eve"), or if they were rejected. Approximately 20 entries include small fabric samples stapled alongside the description of the garment. One of the last entries, dated November 13, [1963], ominously notes a "Pink Costume Dress & Jacket," with associated fabric sample—an eerie foreshadowing of the pink Chanel suit she wore at the time of JFK's assassination just nine days later. In the back of the book are several entries for Kennedy-related figures, including Princess Lee Radziwill, Mrs. Sargent Shriver, Mrs. Ted Kennedy, and Mrs. Stephen Smith. In fine condition. Chronicling the process behind the fashion choices made by the iconic first lady, this is a remarkable piece of both fashion and American history.
