Jade Jaguar Head Pendant Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec, Age unknown. A remarkable and exceedingly rare deep hunter green jadeite pendant carving in the form of a jaguar head with large round eyes. The head has a wide-open jaw showing upper and lower teeth with an outstretched tongue. A drilled hole through at the back of the head just under the ears is likely for attaching this piece as a pendant. The is also a hole drill at the top of the head, most likely for attaching beads. Size: 3 3/8” Tall, 2 7/8” Wide, 1 1??2” Deep. Provenance: Private collection of Enrique Cardenas Olaya.
