A precious and extremely rare Atmos table clock model "Caravelle" Movm. No. 195896, Ref. 5801, Cal. 526, Dimensions 225 x 180 x 135 mm, circa 1964, Origin Schweiz Case: Gilt metal. Dial: White. Movm.: Gilt, driven by changing air-pressure, torsion pendulum. This Atmos V special edition "Feuille d'or" with the rare motif "Caravelle" was for sale from 1962 to 1971. In addition to the "Caravelle" with sailing boat decoration there is the "Constellation" with astronomical motifs from the Middle Ages and the early modern age. Sides, door and glass of the cover plate have been painted gold from inside, which looks like gold foil and gives the model its name Feuille d'or (French for gold foil). Black varnish has been painted on the gold ground, which creates an interesting play of light and shadow as well as a three-dimensional effect. A compass rose sits in the centre of the white dial. Front, sides and lid are decorated with representations of sailing boats – caravels – which are a reminiscence of the age of great explorers and conquerers. This timepiece is newly revised and in immaculate condition. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movm.: very good, capable of running.
