Jaff Bag
mid 19th century, 65 x 64 cm, North West Persia, Kurdistan
This square bag by the Jaff Kurds (half of a khorjin) shows the characteristic, hermetic repeat of colourful hooked diamonds in the field. The rare design of the main border is a continuous frieze of large four-legged animals in varying colours. The outstanding quality of the colours and wool suggests great age.
RIPPON BOSWELL, A 72, 29 November 2008, lot 166
Condition
Except for slight signs of wear in good condition. Original back.
