Jaff Khorjin
late 19th century, 101 x 63 cm, North West Persia, Kurdistan
Double bags woven by the Kurdish Jaff tribe rarely survive in a complete state. Usually they were already taken apart in Persia and exported without their kilim backs to reduce their weight and thus lower shipping costs. The very good quality of this khorjin may have contributed to saving it from such a fate.
REINISCH, HELMUT, Satteltaschen. Graz 1985, no. 33
Condition
Very good condition with the original backs.
