A Jalisco terracotta figure of a seated mother and child, West Mexico, c. 250 BC - AD 250, nicely modeled, her angular head with elaborate headdress, coffee-bean eyes and prominent nose, she holds a child in her lap that doesn't seem like he wants to stay there. H: 4 3/4 in (12.1 cm). Nice red slip accents with light deposits. Mounted on a lucite base. Ex Southern California private collection.
