Description
JAMAICA: 1860 QV Pineapple Wmk 2d rose & 6d lilac as SG 2 & 5 but Imperforate with 'SPECIMEN' Overprints in Black, margins good to large & close to good respectively, both with large-part original gum. Gibbons mentions that all values (ex the 3d) are known imperforate, but does not list these nor any 'SPECIMEN' overprints. The De La Rue Collection (p1578) illustrates five values overprinted 'SPECIMEN' comprising 1d 2d 4d & 6d imperforate and 1/- perforated, and states that these have been cut from the printer's Day Book of 17 October 1860.
