The cartouche is surmounted by a tenacious Federal Eagle holding a ribbon in its beak proclaiming "For President / James A. Garfield." Imprinted at bottom "Published by J.P. Reynolds, Salem, Mass., originator and proprietor of Reynolds' Escutcheons of Military and Naval Service, showing the entire record of a Soldier at a glance..." Accompanied by a large lithograph portrait of Lucretia Rudolph Garfield subtitled "Wife of James A. Garfield, President of the United States 1881 / Presented by The New York Tribune". Published by J.H. Bufford's Sons, Boston & New York. [Both sheets: 28 1/4 x 22 1/4 inches].
