"Rotherhithe (Wapping)" from "Thames Set A Series of Sixteen Etchings of Scenes on the Thames and Other Subjects", 1860. Etching and drypoint printed in black ink on lightweight Asian paper with vertical laid lines, pencil signed with the "butterfly" signature and "imp" lower right indicating that Whistler printed this impression himself, fifth state of six, signed and dated in the plate lower left, in a cream mat, unframed, overall with mat 18" x 14". A very inky impression with a light overall print tone, pitting in the foreground.
Condition: Restoration seen to the left edge of paper, slight mat window around image, minor scattered foxing in lower margin, soiling and handling creases to margins and in print. Scuffs and soils to mat.
