James Bassnett, Liverpool 5-Drawer Telescope
British. 1829-1857. From the Darryl Silver Collection. Brass, wood. 31.5" long, extended, 2" x 2". Telescope is made by James Bassnett of Liverpool, England. Bassnett was an optician and maker of scientific instruments. His instruments appear to be marked "Ja S Bassnett...."; however, the "f" is actually an exaggerated "s". Each section of the telescope is known as a "drawer", hence making this a 5-drawer scope. Bassnett was in business in Liverpool from 1829-1857. Inscribed, "JaS Bassnett Liverpool", on first drawer (closest to the eyepiece). 31.5" long. Extended: 2" x 2". From the Darryl Silver Collection.
Condition Report: Very shallow impressions to some of the drawers. Older semi-polished surface.
