Bronze in medium warm brown patina, Roosevelt attired in neckerchief and jacket with epaulettes, signed "FRASER/ (c)," indistinct foundry mark, mounted on a black slate plinth. H: 11.625 in. (Including base), W: 10.5 in., D: 8.75 in. Provenance: Graham Gallery, 1014 Madison Avenue, New York, New York; the Dingman Collection, Hampton, New Hampshire. Literature: Patricia Jane Broder, "Bronzes of the American West," illustrated p. 187. Roosevelt served as one of the 1,250 members of the First United States Volunteer Calvary Regiment, known as the "Rough Riders," during the Spanish-American War in 1898.
