This piece was made for the 1904 World's Fair and it is actually a plaster cast of the Jefferson Statue in the Missouri History Museum. James Earle Fraser made the piece to test out his idea for the giant Thomas Jefferson to celebrate the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase.
