A partial land grant with a partial clipped signature by President James Monroe. 1p of vellum, measuring 4.5" x 9.5", [Washington, D.C.], dated October [1824]. A third of a land grant, issued to Gael Dunning, possibly for a plot in Indiana. The front half of Monroe's signature has been cleanly cut off, leaving "mes Monroe." With flattened folds, toning, foxing, and soiling throughout. Monroe's last name is boldly signed. Accompanied by a JSA LOA.
