We are grateful to Fred Meijer for endorsing the attribution of the present painting to Jan Fyt. He dates it to the period of the artist’s Italian sojourn or shortly after, circa 1640. Meijer compares it to a similar painting, formerly in the collection of Marczell von Nemes, Budapest (sale, Koller, Zurich, 18 March 2013, lot 3101).
