Olej na dřevěné desce, 73,5x104,5 cm. Rámováno, zaskleno. Posouzeno Dr. Klausem Ertzem, německým historikem umění, jenž se specializuje na malířskou rodinu Brueghelů a jejich uměleckou dílnu. Z posudku Dr. Klause Ertze v německém originálu: „[...] Um ein sehr qualitätsvolles Original des flämischen Malers Jan BRUEGHEL d. J. handelt. Die Figuren sind meiner Meinung nach von der Hand des Jan BOECKHORST gemalt [...]“. V českém překladu: „[...] Jedná se o velmi kvalitní originál od Jana Brueghela mladšího. Podle mého názoru jsou postavy malovány rukou Jana Boeckehorsta [...]“. Barokní obraz je společným dílem Jana Brueghela II. a Jana Boeckehorsta. Oblíbený mytologický námět spící Diany, která je označována za bohyni lovu, již dříve opakovaně zpracovával Jan Brueghel starší společně s Petrem Pavlem Rubensem. Brueghel mladší, který po celou svou uměleckou dráhu čerpal inspiraci z prací svého otce, v uvedené malbě vyobrazil lovecké psy a pozoruhodnou rozlehlou krajinu. Boeckehorst oproti tomu spadá do úzkého malířského Rubensova okruhu. Jeho tvorba byla ovlivněna i dalšími vlámskými malířskými mistry, jako byl Antony van Dyck či Jakob Jordaens. V díle můžeme spatřit Bockehorstův typický malířský styl, a to v propracovaném znázornění figur, spících nymf a cherubína, jež za stromy pozorují satyrové.

Provenience: Obraz pochází z významné soukromé brněnské sbírky.
Na uměleckém trhu i ve světových soukromých sbírkách se velmi podobné variace tématu od jmenovaných malířů již několikrát objevily. Jan Brueghel II. - byl prvorozeným dítětem malíře Jana Brueghela staršího a Isabelly de Jode. Jeho osud mu předurčil navázat na malířskou živnost jeho otce, který je společně s Petrem Pavlem Rubensem považován za jednoho z nejuznávanějších malířských mistrů své doby. Brueghel mladší se malbě začal věnovat již ve svém raném věku. V roce 1622 opustil Antverpy a podnikl pracovní cestu do Itálie. Po smrti svého otce, v roce 1625, převzal jeho uměleckou dílnu s mnoha studenty a asistenty. O obrazy, jež byly vytvořeny Brueghelem starším, byl v té době obrovský zájem, později však tento trend upadl. I z tohoto důvodu se na uměleckém trhu objevují variace stejných témat od obou autorů. Za nejúspěšnější dobu pro Brueghela II. lze považovat začátek 30. let 17. století.

Oil on wooden panel, 73,5x104,5 cm. Framed, glazed. Examined by Dr. Klaus Ertz, a German art historian who specializes in the Brueghel family and their art workshop. From the expert opinion by Dr. Klaus Ertz in German: „[...] Um ein sehr qualitätsvolles Original des flämischen Malers Jan BRUEGHEL d. J. handelt. Die Figuren sind meiner Meinung nach von der Hand des Jan BOECKHORST gemalt [...]“. In English: „[...] This is a very high quality original by Jan Brueghel the Younger. In my opinion, the figures are painted by Jan Boeckehorst[...]“. This Baroque painting is a work by Jan Brueghel II. and Jan Boeckehorst. The popular mythological theme of sleeping Diana, the goddess of hunting, was previously repeatedly painted by Jan Brueghel the Elder together with Peter Paul Rubens. Brueghel the Younger, who drew inspiration from his father`s work throughout his artistic career, depicted in this painting hunting dogs and also a remarkable landscape. Boeckehorst, on the other hand, comes from the circle of Rubens. His work was also influenced by other Flemish painters, such as Antony van Dyck and Jakob Jordaens. In the work we can see Bockehorst`s typical painting style, in an elaborate depiction of figures, sleeping nymphs and a cherub, who are watched by the satyrs behind trees. Provenance: The painting comes from an important private collection in Brno. Very similar variations of the motif by these painters have appeared several times on the art market and in the world`s private collections.

Aus dem Gutachten: „[...] Um ein sehr qualitätsvolles Original des flämischen Malers Jan BRUEGHEL d. J. handelt. Die Figuren sind meiner Meinung nach von der Hand des Jan BOECKHORST gemalt [...]“. Barockgemälde ist eine gemeinsame Arbeit von Jan Brueghel II. und Jan Boeckehorst. Populäres mythologisches Thema der schlafenden Jagdgöttin Diana wurde zuvor mehrmals von Jan Brueghel d. Ä. zusammen mit Petrus Paulus Rubens dargestellt. Brueghel d. J., der sich während seiner künstlerischen Karriere von der Arbeit seines Vaters inspirieren ließ, stellte auf dem Gemälde Jagdhunde und bemerkenswerte weite Landschaft dar. Boeckehorst auf der anderen Seite fällt in den engen Malerkreis von Rubens. Seine Arbeit wurde auch von anderen flämischen Malermeistern beeinflusst, wie z. B. von Antony van Dyck oder Jakob Jordaens. In dieser Arbeit sehen wir Bockehorsts typischen Malstil, und zwar in der aufwendigen Darstellung von Figuren, schlafenden Nymphen und Cherub, von Satyrn hinter den Bäumen belauscht. Provenienz: Das Gemälde stammt aus einer bedeutenden Privatsammlung in Brünn. Sehr ähnliche Variationen des Themas der genannten Maler sind mehrmals auf dem Kunstmarkt und in den Privatsammlungen der Welt aufgetaucht.
