Note:
In the spring of 1933, Sluijters travelled to Portugal together with his friend and colleague painter Ernst Leyden (1892-1969). Together with Leyden’s family, they stayed in the vicinity of the town of Cintra. There he painted several Portuguese women, floral still-lifes, but also village views and landscapes, of which the latter is demonstrated by this present lot.
