Jan Sluijters Jr. , son of Jan Sluijters Sr. and Greet van Cooten, was familiar with the painting trade from an early age due to his father's profession. He was educated at the National Normal School for Drawing Education and the National Academy in Amsterdam and specialized in painting, drawing and watercolor painting of cityscapes, still lifes and especially landscapes. His colorful and expressive impressionism is somewhat reminiscent of that of his father. The artist lived and worked in Amsterdam and from 1945 in Baambrugge.
