Das hier zur Versteigerung kommende Triptychon wird von Marlier als eines der wenigen bekannten Gemälde von Jan van Dornicke bzw. dessen Werkstatt anerkannt. Die weiteren Exemplare situiert er in eine Pariser Privatsammlung, in das Musée des Beaux-Arts, Lille, Nr. 578, in die ehemalige Sammlung Ruffo de Bonnevalle del a Fare, in die ehemalige Sammlung Bogaerde Heeswijck, nach Gosford House, in das Museo de Arte Cataluna, Barcelona, Inv. Nr. 64095, in das Musée des Beaux-Arts nach Chambéry, in die ehemalige Sammlung Gerhardt, Berlin, in den Prado (Inv. Nr. 2223). Ein weiteres Exemplar wurde am 11.-14. November 1959 in Köln angeboten.

Marlier recognizes the triptych on offer for sale in this lot as one of the few known paintings by Jan van Dornicke or his workshop. He points out that the other copies are held in a private collection in Paris, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Lille, no. 578, in the former Collection Ruffo de Bonnevalle del a Fare, in the former Collection Bogaerde Heeswijck, in Gosford House, in the Museo de Arte Cataluna, Barcelona, inv. no. 64095, in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Chambéry, in the former Collection Gerhardt, Berlin, in the Prado (inv. no. 2223). Another copy was offered at auction on 11-14 November 1959 in Cologne.
