Jan van der Heyden (1637-1712), 22 x 32 cm
Jan van der Heyden (1637-1712), 22 x 32 cm
Monogrammed 'V.D.H.', attributed to Jan van der Heyden, a view on a small town, monogram to the left bottom corner, oil on an oak panel, 22 x 32 cm
Condition: - the fact that the craquelé is not following the direction of the wooden panel, seems to be suspicious. This may suggest the work being a later copy, albeit of great quality though.
- a dowel hole visible to the bottom back of the panel. A joint of a once bigger panel?
- the right upper part of the sky overpainted
- some retouches to the whole of the sky
- the bottom edge of the back of the panel with a drilled hole (old connection?)
- the central ruin with a retouched spot
- some less notable retouches all over
- the church to the background with an overpainted diagonal scratch
- furthermore, in our opinion, the painting is in acceptable to good condition.
