Japanese Meiji Silver Mounted Lacquer Scholars Box
A Japanese silver mounted lacquer scholar's box (Suzuribako), dating to the Meiji period. The cover is decorated with a landscape and temple scene with sterling silver and mother of pearl inlay. The interior has a sterling water dropper and matching lacquer brush. The box comes in a wood case with a calligraphy inscription and 1 seal on either side of the lid.
Dimensions: 1 3/4 inches tall X 9 1/2 inches wide X 11 inches deep; 4.4 cm tall X 24.1 cm tall X 27.9 cm deep. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The scholar's box is in overall good condition. The exterior box has some chipping and cracking.
