Ogasawara has been making large, person-sized ceramic works. His pieces explore the relationship between material and the body, sometimes reaching heights of over two meters. His process begins by stacking layers of clay. Each work arises from the reactions of material and body, some forms being created by the layering of the clay and others by Ogasawara's actions or movements. The resulting works represent an accumulation of reactions and give the impression of dynamic, organic bodies.
In recent years, he has been creating ceremonial tea cups and sake cups that are profound, luxuriant, and rich in variety but not bound by tradition, considering them as extensions of sculpture or painting.
