Japanese Wakizashi with Saya and Kogatana
A Japanese wakizashi likely dating from the Edo period and in wood saya. It has a midare hamon, itame hada. Copper habiki, iron 'chain link' tsuba, 2 bronze menuki, and a mixed metal kashira. It is signed kogatana with a dragon on kozuka.
Dimensions: blade- 17 inches long; 43.2 cm long, tsuba- 2 1/2 inches tall X 3 inches wide; 6.4 cm tall X 7.6 cm wide, hilt- 6 1/2 inches long; 16.5 cm long, total- 25 inches long; 63.5 cm long. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Habaki damaged. The Wakizashi does not come apart.
