Japy Freres French Mantel Clock
An early 19th century Empire Bronze mantel clock by Japy Freres. 8-day time and strike movement with a convex porcelain dial and Roman numerals with engine turned bezel silk thread suspension. Bronze case with two color Brown/Gilded patina features an Allegorical figure of "Autumn" holding shocks of Wheat with an Amphora at her feet, seated on a rocky outcropping, on a base with Gilded Bronze facade with foliate scrolls and shaped Brass sides. Displayed within a blown glass dome on an oval Ebonized molded wood base. Well preserved finish with bright Gilding and slight wear, running when cataloged. The clock is 13 1/2" high, dome and base are 18 x 9 x 17 1/2" high overall. ESTIMATE $800-1,200
