Condition Report:
The terracotta group is in very good condition overall. The patina of the terracotta has been refreshed with a general light cream coloured slip, revealing in some places the darker orange coulour of the plain the terracotta. Examination with UV light reveals a few minor repairs to the extremities of some figures (from left to right) :
1) Left grandson seated to Ugolino's proper right : the index of his proper left hand, as well as the big toe of his proper left foot are restored
2) Left son: the patina of his chest appears to have been retouched; there appears to be a minor repair to the folds of his drapery.
3) Ugolino: the small finger of his proper left hand appears to have been repaired
4) Son standing to Ugolino proper left : the big toe of his proper right foot is restored.
5) Reclining grandson: minor repairs to the fingers of his proper right hand and to the toes of his proper right foot.
Very attractive group in good condition.
