A remarkable rare and enchanting watercolour by highly desired French portrait painter Jean-Baptise Isabey (1767 - 1855) . A beautiful example of his work which is believed to be dated around 1830. Dimensions: 18 cm x 13. 5 cm inside (frame: 31 cm x 26 cm) . A very similar watercolour by the same artist recently sold for €2300 in Paris last year, please see the last image. Biography of Artist: At the age of nineteen, after some lessons from Dumont, miniature painter to Marie Antoinette, he became a pupil of Jacques-Louis David. Employed at Versailles on portraits of the dukes of Angoulême and Berry, he was given a commission by the queen, which opens the long list of those he received from successive French rulers until his death in 1855.
