Jean Benner (1836-1909) was a French painter known for his Impressionist style. He was born in Strasbourg, France, and studied art in Paris under Gustave Courbet and Edouard Manet. Benner's paintings often depicted scenes of daily life, including landscapes, still lifes, and portraits. He was a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais and exhibited regularly at the Salon. In 1883, he was awarded a bronze medal at the Salon for his painting "The Seine at Bercy. " Benner's work was influenced by the Impressionist movement and his use of light and color was highly regarded. He died in Paris in 1909.
