Jean Marc Lange was born on 17th November 1945 in Canteleu. He spent his early childhood in Grand-Quevilly, a town on the banks of the Seine, near Rouen. Very early on, he showed a keen interest in everything related to Art. It was first the music, Christian Lange went to the conservatory of Rouen and then the one in Paris to attempt the teachings of Olivier Messiaen. He was admitted to the Rouen Regional School of Fine Arts in October 1961 for his first artistic studies. His teachers are Pierre Dauphin, Mouillé, Dandeville, Lesage, Toublanc, Robert Savary, René Leleu, Jacques Ramondot. In November 1964, he started at the painter Maurice Brianchon’s studio at the National Higher School of Fine Arts in Paris. Selected for the tests of the Rome Competition, he won a first Rome Grand Prize for Painting at the end of the three months in loges for his painting “Le Songe”.
