Catalogue Note:
Born in 1944, Jean Pierre Pincemin composes geometric paintings with an architectural feel. As early as 1974, he creates polychrome rectangular bands whose shape reminds one of an impassable gate.
The work executed in 1985, induces the observer to contemplation. The spectator is absorbed by the coloured areas that gradually seem to free themselves from the surface. Contrary to light colours that melt into the canvas, the green and the brown rectangles seem to move slowly towards the observer. Thus, the artist confers a certain dynamism to his apparently static work.

Né en 1944, Jean Pierre Pincemin compose des peintures géométriques aux allures architecturales. Dès 1974, il crée des bandes rectangulaires polychromes dont la forme fait songer à un portail infranchissable.
L’œuvre exécutée en 1985, induit l’observateur à la contemplation. Ce dernier se trouve absorbé par les différentes zones colorées qui semblent graduellement s’affranchir de la surface. Contrairement au beige qui se fond dans la toile, les couleurs plus chaudes tels que le vert et le brun s’avancent doucement vers l’observateur. Ainsi, l’artiste confère un certain dynamisme à son œuvre d’apparence figée.
