Jeff Gordon Engine Developer Randy Dorton's 1998 Indianapolis Brickyard 400 Diamond and Solid 10K Yellow Gold Hendrick Motorsports Winner's Ring - This ring was custom made for Randy Dorton, who was the lead engine builder for Hendrick Motorsports, the team on which driver Jeff Gordon won the 1998 Indianapolis Brickyard 400. The ring is crafted of solid 10k yellow gold and is engraved "Brickyard 400 Winner" surrounding Gordon's number "24" in the center, framed by diamond accents. The shoulders are engraved with the name of the recipient, "Dorton", along with the Hendrick Motorsports logo, "Brickyard 400", the year "1998", and the logo of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Randy Dorton was the Director of Engine Operations and the lead engine builder for Hendrick Motorsports, and the team won nine NASCAR championships during his time. In October, 2004, Dorton was tragically killed in a plane crash along with nine others while heading to Martinsville Speedway for the Subway 500. The trophy awarded to the winner of the Mahle Engine Builders Challenge is named the Randy Dorton Trophy in Dorton's honor. Ring size: 9.5. (WEIGHT: 33.3 grams)
