Jenő Grantner (1907-1983) - Reclining Female Nude - Ceramic

Beautifully detailed large sculpture of a reclining nude woman by Jenő Grantner, the Hungarian sculptor who has been awarded several prizes, from about 1930-1940s. Rare piece, in excellent condition, with 3 minor chips on the base, please, see the pictures. Unmarked piece. Dimensions: 24 x 23 x 13 cm. Will ship well packaged and with tracking. Jenő Grantner: 1929: Honorary Recognition of the Szinyei Society, 1939: Art Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, 1943: Ferenc József Prize of the Capital, 1954: Munkácsy Prize. He was also involved in restoration in the 1960s (St. Anne's Church, Castle Bazaar, Nagytétény Castle, The fountain of Matyas Alajos Stróbl and Statue of St. Stephen. His main purpose is to depict and show the pure beauty that comes from respecting Greek art. His works can be found in many public spaces, e. g: Christ (1936, Gellert Hill Rock Church) , Sitting Woman (1959, Tatabánya) , Art (1960, Budapest, District II) , Puccini, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Mihály Mosonyi (limestone reliefs, 1960, Erkel Theater) , Lajos Bíró (bronze portrait, 1972, Madang, Australia) , József Fodor (bronze bust, 1974, State Opera House) .
