Jewelry box with drawer - Napoleon III - Brass, Rosewood - 1850-1870
An elegantly designed jewellery box with drawer, manufactured during the French Napoleon III period around 1850-1870. The box is presumably made of pearwood, glued with Bahia rosewood and with blackened/ebonised (profile) edges. Both the inside of the lid, the box and the drawer are blackened/ebonsied and are lined with the original red/dark-pink velvet. The jewellery box still has its original brass hinges, oval key entrance and lock, a working key is missing unfortunately. The jewellery box rests on four refined cast brass legs. There are some old but not really disturbing repairs to the veneer. The entire jewellery box has a warm colour and chic shine, the golden orange-coloured Bahia rosewood of which stands out beautifully against the blackened details! The item will be sent well packed and with insurance!
