He was born on June 16, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and studied at the University of Cincinnati and the Boston Museum School. Dine's early work often featured everyday objects such as tools, clothes, and hearts, and he worked in a range of media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography.Dine gained critical acclaim in the 1960s for his inclusion in important group exhibitions such as the New Painting of Common Objects at the Pasadena Art Museum and the Pop Art exhibition at the Sidney Janis Gallery in New York.
