In the middle Abraham attempting Isaac with a sword behead. An angel stops him. The print is part of an eight-part series of landscapes depicting scenes from the Old and New Testament, drawn by Hans Bol and engraved by Joan Sadeler (H. 565-572) / Dimensions: 20,70 x 27,00 cm / Condition: Excellent impression with good plate tone with full plate border, blank text line and margins on a laid paper sheet. Good condition with no folds, tears or stains. / Literature: Hollstein Dutch 566, only state.

Hans Bol (printmaker; painter/draughtsman; Flemish; Dutch; 1534 - 1593)

Painter and etcher, active in Mechelen, Heidelberg, Mons, Antwerp, Bergen op Zoom, Dordrecht, Delft and Amsterdam. Born in Mechelen, moved to Antwerp in 1572 and to the Nothern Netherlands in 1584 after religious persecutions. He died in Amsterdam.
