Hans Bol, Joan Sadeler -Juda and Thamar landscape / Description: Wooded landscape. Right on a road Judah gives a ring to the Tamar. By whore like dressing, Tamar seduces her father Judah. Tamar becomes pregnant and can through the ring that Judah gave her as payment prove he is the father of her child. The print is part of an eight-part series of landscapes depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments, drawn by Hans Bol and engraved by Joan Sadeler (H. 565-572) / Dimensions: 20,70 x 27,00 cm / Condition: Excellent impression with good plate tone with full plate border, blank text line and margins on a laid paper sheet. Good condition with no folds, tears or stains. / Literature: Hollstein Dutch 567, only state.

Hans Bol (printmaker; painter/draughtsman; Flemish; Dutch; 1534 - 1593)

Painter and etcher, active in Mechelen, Heidelberg, Mons, Antwerp, Bergen op Zoom, Dordrecht, Delft and Amsterdam. Born in Mechelen, moved to Antwerp in 1572 and to the Nothern Netherlands in 1584 after religious persecutions. He died in Amsterdam.
