signed and dated 'Tilson 1987' on the reverse
oil and canvas collage on wood
47.7 x 38 x 10.6 cm (18 3/4 x 14 7/8 x 4 1/8 in.)
Executed in 1987, in Italy.
Condition Report:
The work is in very good condition. The work is structurally sound. All the collage elements are present and securely attached. There is minor rubbing to the corners and edges in places, minor points of paint loss to the upper left vertical edge, minor hairline paint cracking to the edges in places and to the thicker red impasto to the upper right quadrant, all only visible on close inspection. There is a separation across the lower part, deemed inherent to the artist's materials used, with very minor stable associated paint cracking to the collage elements to the lower right quadrant, all only visible on close inspection. All other imperfections are deemed inherent to the artist's materials used and studio technique. The work has been examined under ultraviolet light and there is no evidence of restoration. Otherwise, there are no apparent condition issues with this work.
