Condition: Somewhat browned and stained, some, partly coloured stains at margins, partly soiled, at the platemark paper partly broken due to printing. Irregularly trimmed. Verso partly remains of old mounting.
Description: Four copperplate engravings with scenes of putti practicing the arts: one tries to bake figurines of children on a round clay oven, another lolls around on books while trascribing a book, a third uses a palette and easel as a hobbyhorse and one draws while the other has to serve as an underlay. Johann Heinrich Rode created these four humorous scenes after drawings by his brother Bernhard at the age of thirty, three years before his early death.
