Other Notes: The original painted by prominent flowering plant artist Georg Dionysius Ehret (1708-1770). The German-born Ehret moved to London in the late 1730s, where he painted exotic plants at the Chelsea Physic Garden, and new discoveries from the Americas. These works were engraved and colored by Johann Jacob Haid and Johann Elias Haid (Haid & Sohn), circa 1760, for publishing in the PLANTAE SELECTAE by Christopher Jacob Trew (1695-1769). The publication of this ten-part volume, begun 1750, and finally completed in 1773, it is considered the finest botanical work ever printed in Germany.
