John Carter, British b.1942 - 10 Transition Study, 2012; acrylic, gouache and collage on paper, signed lower right; titled and dated 2012 lower left, 27x18cm(ARR) Provenance: Royal Academy of Arts, London, where purchased by the present owner in 2014 Exhibition: Royal Academy of Arts, London 2014 Note: the artist was taught by Terry Frost and later worked for Bryan Kneale, becoming known in the 1960s for his abstract compositions. He exhibited in the 1966 edition of the 'New Generation' show at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, curated by Bryan Robertson and was part of a touring exhibition of British art around the USA, organised by Herbert Read.
