JFK's first published book "Why England Slept" inscribed to Arthur Goldsmith, ALS to Arthur Goldsmith circa 1940 on rare Stanford Letterhead, TLS to William Gavin Aug. 27, 1940: First edition, first printing, 1940 near-mint condition presentation copy inscribed to long time family friend Arthur Goldsmith who was JFK’s stockbroker and a Harvard pal of Joseph P. Kennedy. JFK's brilliantly written criticism of what the British did not do, when all the signs were pointing that Hitler had to be met with a deterrent force which the British did not pursue. Having a deterrent force became a policy issue that JFK wanted the United States to always have. Warmly inscribed, “To a very old friend of the Kennedys, with warmest regards, Jack Kennedy."
JACK KENNEDY WRITES TO MR. GOLDSMITH ON RARE STANFORD STATIONERY: Rare "Stanford" stationery ALS circa 1940 signed "Jack K." to Arthur Goldsmith, his stockbroker and Kennedy family friend. Kennedy was only at Stanford for a few months.
