Readers Digest reprint of "Survival," John Hersey's 1944 story acknowledging JFK's heroics aboard the PT-109 published by the Massachusetts Committee for John F. Kennedy for President of the United States 1960 signed "John Kennedy," five PT-109 tie clasps, one PT-109 "Kennedy for President" lighter, a 2.5-foot long motorized PT-109 U.S. Navy Torpedo Boat in it original box, and a framed print of President Kennedy.
"John Kennedy" signed on the 'Reader's Digest' reprint of the original story "Survival" which was condensed from The New Yorker article by John Hersey in 1944. This story acknowledged JFK's heroics in directly saving the life of his badly burned shipmate McMahon by swimming 3 miles with a strap in his teeth that was attached to a helpless McMahon which took 5 hours to reach an island where the survivors waited to be rescued. Kennedy's exploits detailed in this Reader's Digest made him a national hero which propelled his entry into political office in 1946.
