John Francisus Hoppenbrouwers (1819-1866) - Lonely skater in winter landscape
J. F. Hoppenbrouwers received his training at the Hague Academy of Visual Arts and in the studio of the famous landscape painter Andreas Schelfhout. He painted romantic winter and summer landscapes whose composition, spicy furnishings and atmosphere are strongly reminiscent of his teacher. He occasionally left the painting of the figures to his friend Charles Rochussen. Also Schelfhout, David Bles and S. L. Verveer have upholstered some of his works.
