The first, inscribed Susanna daughter of John/ first Lord Poulett and wife/ of Michael Warton Esqr. of/ Beverly [sic] in Yorkshire/ Hales pinxt l.r., also inscribed indistinctly u.l.; and the second, inscribed Michael Warton Esqr. son in law/ of John first Lord Poulett/ Hales pinxt l.l.

Condition: For the portrait of Michael: under black light: with heavy milky green varnish and scattered spots of restoration throughout; with what appears to be an old relining, with fine craquelure, frame abrasion and scattered surface abrasions (see photos), also with approximately one inch triangular area of loss of pigment below beltline, and with waxed patch on verso. For the portrait of Susanna: under black light: overall with heavy milky green varnish; with what appears to be an old relining, frame abrasion along top and edges, with stretcher bar impression visible on top and center, overall with fine craquelure and scattered losses to pigment.
