Important Late 19th C John Henry Lorimer Original Oil Painting w Recorded Provenance. John Henry Lorimer Scottish (12 August 1856 – 4 November 1936). Original oil painting on canvas in a carved and gilded frame. Signed bottom corner J H Lorimer. This painting was exhibited in 1894 at the Royal Academy Exhibition and is titled "The Eleventh Hour, Marriage de Convenience." The interior shown in the painting is likely the Lorimer family home, Kellie Castle in Scotland as details such as the windows and staircase match other works by Lorimer and published photos of the castle's interior. The interior is similar to that seen in Lorimer's painting, "The Flight of the Swallows" which also features a young woman and three little girls. Please see original photograph of this painting attached, this painting originally featured an additional portion to the right with the Bride's bouquet. Painting itself measures 37 x 53 inches, frame measures 47 x 63 inches.
