[ translate ]

Examination results sheet for the 1959/1960 Intermediate Drawing School at the Liverpool College of Art, one page, 8 x 10.25, issued for “Second Year—Group 5,” with the assessment for “Half Term. Feb. 15th. 1960.” Listed in the left border among the nine other students is a 19-year-old John Lennon, who receives a grade of “55” in the categories “Life” and “Compn.” The lone name crossed off the list, Thelma Pickles, was an early girlfriend of Lennon, who he began dating in the autumn of 1958. Pickles was one of the handful of lucky spectators that observed Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison play guitars in the kitchen of Lennon's aunt and uncle at 251 Menlove Avenue. In very good to fine condition, with creasing, small staple holes, and a tear (and associated paper loss) to the top edge. Consignor notes that the sheet was formerly the property of one of John's teachers listed, Mr. Bollard. While studying at the Liverpool College of Art, Lennon was introduced to a talented painter by the name of Stuart Sutcliffe. The two became fast friends and in May 1960 the latter was asked to join Lennon's band as the new bass-player for ‘the Silver Beatles.' A unique and fascinating piece of Beatles history. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.
