Partly-printed DS, signed “J. Q. Adams,” one page, 7 x 9.75, March 9, 1822. As secretary of state, John Quincy Adams certifies that "Ezekiel Macdaniel, whose name is subscribed to the annexed Instrument of writing, was, at the time of subscribing the same and now is, a Justice of the Peace for the County of Washington in the District of Columbia, duly appointed and commissioned." Signed boldly at the conclusion by Adams. In fine condition, with a portion of the embossed seal missing.
