John Steinbeck Robert Capa Obituary
The four page manuscript begins: "This morning the newspaper said.....ROBERT CAPA, FORMER STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER FOR LIFE MAGAZINE, WAS KILLED YESTERDAY WHEN HE STEPPED ON A MINE IN THE THAI BIHN REGION OF NORTHERN VIET NAM. I have a fist of lead in the pit of my stomach...The first time I ever saw Capa was in London during the war." The manuscript ends: "But the son of a bitch had no right to step on a mine.". There is the original typed on onionskin and copy with "Copy" written in pencil on the top right. Included is a photograph of Robert Capa. "Robert Capa- Magnum Photos" stamped on verso.
