Other Notes: Samuel Hadden Harper (1783-1837) was born in Shenadoah Valley of Virginia, and later moved to New Orleans. Harper was a prominent private practice lawyer from 1808-1829, and also reserved in the Army during the War of 1812. He became a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives in 1814, and by 1815 was serving in the US District Court of Louisiana. During his lifetime he served both as councilman for the city of New Orleans and State Representative.
