2 interesting old drawings by Joop Geesink, made during or just after the Second World War.
Framed in silver-colored metal frames with glass.

Geesink started his career as a set designer for Dutch theater revues. He soon became interested in film - especially animated film - and together with Marten Toonder (known for the stories of Tom Poes and Olivier B. Bommel) he founded a film studio. Toonder was mainly concerned with cartoons and Geesink was more into puppet films. This way he could recreate the atmosphere of the theater in miniature and make it move. The collaboration lasted only one year: from March 1942 to March 1943. The Geesink-Toonder studio was dissolved at Geesink's request in time before a major dispute arose. Toonder then founded the Toonder Studios and Geesink started his Dollywood Studios (a combination of doll, the English word for pop, and Hollywood, the film studios in America) .

When Toonder ran into financial problems in mid-1949, a large group of employees went to Joop Geesink's Dollywood Studios. One of them was Han van Gelder, who would work on special effects until 1951. Han van Gelder had a winged exclamation 'asjemenou', which would later become widely known by Loeki de Leeuw.

Geesink is best known as the creator of Loeki de Leeuw.

In these drawings Geesink pokes fun at situations during the war. The series of drawings from which these 2 appear is entitled 'Do you remember? '

The works are in very good condition and can be hung on the wall. They appear to have been recently framed.

These special works will be carefully packaged and shipped by registered mail.
