A beautiful abstract painting ("abstract composition", oil on cardboard) by the Dutch artist Joop Kropff (1892-1979) . New Hague School. Beautifully framed behind glass. Signed lower right. The dimensions with frame: 46 cm. x 40 cm. Image size: 28 cm. x 23 cm. The condition of the artwork is very good. The frame is simple and has some light signs of use. The work can be viewed at Kunsthandel Martins in Wolvega and comes with a certificate of authenticity!
Biography:
Joop Kropff visited the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. He painted, watercoloured, drew, etched and lithographed still lifes, portraits and landscapes. He made the school poster Olieveld Schoonebeek from the oil extraction in the South-East corner of Drenthe. He was a member of Pulchri Studio in The Hague, but also of Pictura and the Hague Art Circle. His art is called moody, tender and dreamy with often a dark color. In his later period, Joop Kropff also started painting abstractly.
