Jose Ricketts (Born 1950) Peru
Jose Ricketts (Born 1950) Peru
Dated: 1998
Oil on Canvas
Measure 55"in h x 71"in W not framed
Biography: He was born in Arequipa, Peru, in 1950. His markedly expressionist work revolves around the typical themes of places and characters that can be found in any Latin American town: small streets, street vendors, birds, cages, and dogs. But the naive romanticism is overshadowed by the intense, thick brushstrokes in shades of blue that permeate his work. Through this resource, Jos? Ricketts paints the history and culture that permeate each of his characters. His work has toured various countries, including the United States, Peru, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, and France. He participated in the Trujillo Biennial, Peru, in 1987, and the Venice Biennale, Italy, in 1986.
